Saeeda Sadat

I am Bibi Saeeda Sadat. I was born in 1999, in Kabul, Afghanistan. In 2015, I started painting professionally with a teacher. For two years, I worked under this teacher and then I started to paint myself. Most of the time, I paint faces and nature; both of which interest me a great deal. My first source of income was from selling my paintings and I am proud of it. In Afghanistan, art is not valued, but I have proved to most people how valuable art is. I am currently a third year student at a private university in Afghanistan and I am studying administration and business.

I am also teaching painting to the girls of the Sayed al-Shuhada School in Kabul for free. I always like not to bury my art just within myself and teach it to others and share my passion. One of my goals is to be able to have a small business through my painting and art, to prove to other people that art can be a viable job. I have four sisters in my family and no brothers. Most of the time, my parents are upset because they do not have a son; they think that a daughter is not very important and having a son is a great honor for them. I have always expressed my pain and sorrow in my paintings, and it is this painting that calms me down and helps me with stress and to find joy.
